Black Power Baby Onesie

This abstract acrylic fluid art painting, like most of my paintings, was an experiment. I tried combining two different techniques that I normally wouldn't. It's always a risk trying something that you've never done before. But the only way we learn how to create is by taking a risk. In this case it was very successful. I was extremely pleased with the outcome. When I first looked at this painting the first thing that came to my mind was the image or symbol of "Black Power". Initially I didn't want to make a political statement. But in light of all that has happened I feel like I want at least one of my paintings to represent something meaningful. Therefore I decided to change the name from "Power" to "Black Power".

Welcome to my gallery! Allow me to introduce myself.... my name is Sue, I'm an artist living in the United States, based in Maryland. I started drawing people from comic books at the age of five. When I was about nine my mother encouraged me to take some oil painting classes at the local gallery where I grew up, near the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania. I also took a drawing class in college at The University of Maryland where I learned how to draw nudes using charcoal. From 2017 through 2022 I focused primarily on fluid acrylic art. It gave me so much freedom to explore my creativity as an artist....a side of me that had been missing. However, I missed not doing any drawing so starting in 2023 I decided to go back to my original love...
